Event: Get Oldham Growing – 4th April 2014

Get Oldham Growing

‘Get Oldham Growing’ aims to get communities in Oldham active and engaged in food growing, cooking and eating to  develop opportunities for growth of new social businesses in Oldham’s food economy and improve public health. At the launch we would like to engage with anyone and everyone who is (interested in) participating in Oldham’s local food economy:-  growing , selling, cooking, catering, teaching, take aways farm shops et al … .

The launch will run from 10.30am -3pm and be framed as a ‘market place’ for projects, community businesses and ideas. The local food economy is our main focus:- growing food, education and training, social enterprise and business support. To this end we are using the day as combination of mapping and networking with presentations, workshops, stalls. There will be opportunities for 1:1 business advice sessions with eco- restauranteur  and social entrepreneur Jules Bagnoli, a ‘nuts and bolts’ business development workshop with Chris Dabbs, visionary Chief Executive of award winning social enterprise Unlimited Potential,  as well as a local honey and veg to buy, free lunch and lots of community enterprises to join in.

Heres a Local Authority proactively supporting their local growers. Having met speakers Chris Dabbs and Jules Bagnoli I recommend it could well be worth the trip!
